Mi caballo ganador - My winning horse

Pure nerve and muscle swirling in the face of the race ahead. A bet on the winning horse, who, unlike in Bad Bunny's song, does not feel alone in the race. It's accompanied by its opponents, its jockey, the cheering in the stands and a sound that signals the starting gun.

From its origins in the English countryside to the present day, not forgetting Queen Elizabeth II's special devotion to the sport, many people visit racecourses in different parts of the world and accompany their favorite on the road to victory.

PRIMAVERA A FLOR DE PIEL - SPRINGTIME AT ITS BEST

This is not what I was planning to write, this is not what I was planning to publish, but while I was writing about spring equinoxes, the metaphors of renewal and an endless cycle, in the purest style of the Disney movie The Lion King, I realized that you, that I, that all of us, are like flowers.

You may be thinking about what bud I've come out of, what plant I've smoked, or what thorn I've pricked myself with. But before you draw your own conjectures, let me say, without it being used against me in a court of law, please let me get to the end.

Last 20th March, we welcomed this new season of the year: spring, that season that, despite allergies, we all welcome with open arms (and handkerchiefs in our pockets). The antecedent to summer, when the sunlight gradually increases to lengthen our days and shorten our nights. There are many poets, writers and great characters of history who have talked about this period of the year that messes up our closets and drives our plans crazy, because as the saying goes... "spring, the blood changes".

Returning to the initial topic, we are in a period of change, where not only flowers bloom (redundancy aside), but also we bloom with them. It's in this period when we shine with more splendor, when we put down the roots that will keep us united in summer, when we stop looking for answers by plucking the petals of a white daisy to know with certainty that when the sun rises, so will we.

Because we're in that season of the year when you can expect anything: a wave of senselessness, an opportunity, a bouquet of flowers, a sign. But keep in mind, no matter how long you wait for it, you won't see it coming.

BIARRITZ EL CANTÁBRICO MÁS GLAMOUROSO - BIARRITZ THE MOST GLAMOROUS CANTABRIC COAST

With its majestic manor houses, its eternal visitors and its luxurious streets, Biarritz, the city that once conquered the hearts of kings and emperors, stands before the raging Cantabrian Sea.

With just over 20 km away from the border with Spain, this town has been chosen, time and again, by the most select European society and how not to remember that Coco Chanel, back in 1915, opened here her first store outside Paris or that its art deco casino, on the beach, surely witnessed some of the most emblematic moments of the happy 20's while the little ones spun, without rest, in the elegant carousel that today remains at his side.

The most glamorous French Basque Country seduces mercilessly anyone who wants to visit it. The perfect scenery with the smell of salt where you can disconnect and where it is hard to imagine what it was like to ride the waves of that ancient fishing village that nowadays different vacationers travel from end to end without ceasing.

ENTREVISTA CON LA MODELO CARLA ALÓS - INTERVIEW WITH THE MODEL CARLA ALÓS

Carla Alós is 21 years old, has been working professionally in the modeling world for 3 and a half years and her career has only taken off.

"Carla is an extroverted and perfectionist girl who loves the fashion world." With these words she describes herself while confirming that she comes from a family of models, her mother and aunt were already part of this profession, but she nods that the real reason why she decided to follow in her footsteps were others: "I have always liked fashion. Since I was a little girl I saw the magazines, the photos, the styles... I've always loved it. Then one day I decided to give it a try and, well, so far it hasn't gone badly".

Despite having paraded on several occasions at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Madrid for designers such as Ángel Schlesser, Cuto Barcelona or Paloma Suarez and doing numerous shootings with different firms, which she combines with her studies in industrial design engineering, she confesses that her biggest challenge to date was moving to Madrid: "At first I was a little dizzy to come to Madrid. I could say that it was a bit of a challenge, but once you're here, the truth is that you feel very supported".

The modeling world is in full transition, every time we see older models, of different sizes and different races on the catwalks and many are the headlines and comments about it. "In the end you have to reflect the person who is then going to wear those clothes. I think the more diversity you see, also the more the brand gets closer to the audience you want to target. Really that's always the way to take care of yourself, to have an aesthetic, but it's good to see that diversity." Carla analyzes as we talk about the role and importance of models within fashion: "I think there is a part of people who see you, a little more, as a mannequin that puts on the clothes and that's it, but, really, when you do a job you have to know how to wear those clothes, convey what the designer wants. You are always looking for an attitude."

ANGEL SCHLESSER ENTREVISTA/ INTERVIEW

The contrast of fabrics, the importance of the pattern, the opposition of colors, the tailoring... create the common thread of Femme, La Fragancia, the latest Alfonso Pérez's designs, Ángel Schelesser's creative director, who wanted to be inspired by the perfume of the firm for this latest autumn/winter Madrid company's collection.

"Perfume has always been closely linked to fashion, they have always gone hand in hand. Angel Schlesser is a brand that also shares the name of the perfume. Therefore, it was interesting to know a little of the process and work these new designs as an alchemy." The creative director tells us, who in turn explains: "The flowers, the wood.... The mix of textures and transparencies... The gauze of the skirts reminds me of when you apply perfume and it remains in the air, they are fabrics and sensations so ethereal..."

Alfonso Pérez received the artistic direction of the firm just when its founder, Ángel Fernández Ovejero, received the National Fashion Design Award for his professional career and his contribution to Spanish fashion, despite this, Alfonso himself confirms that this recognition was not an extra pressure: "Ángel Schelesser is the 90s' brand par excellence, the most powerful brand of two decades of Spanish fashion. I didn't take it as a pressure, the fact of entering this house is a pressure, but I try to take it normally and do an honest job as much as I can".

With a blunt sentence: "The only thing they can't erase is your identity." published on the designer's Instagram (@elcostureroelectrico), one could define Alfonso's personal union with the legacy and heritage of Ángel Schlesser who assures: "A brand, nowadays and always, what it has to have is identity and differentiate itself a little from the rest". That essence is what, as Pérez states, prevails when the lights go out and the models step off the catwalk: "The solidity of a brand, the sophistication and the ethereal. Very elegant designs, but with a lot of presence" that continue to make the firm a benchmark and an example of Spanish fashion despite the current panorama of the sector.

Fashion has always been a reflection of society, an indication of the moment in which we find ourselves and as Alfonso recognizes "We're going through a dark tunnel, I really think there's a big gap, we don't know where we're going, what reins to take, but also because the social moment in which we are is very complex and complicated". He continues: "We come from that 90s' hangover, I think there is currently a total standbye, we're in a very flat moment." Despite this, the designer doesn't lose hope because the most important thing in this profession is really the illusion and passion: "Apart from health, of course, one of the most important things in life is the illusion. Money, material things come and go. Not to be negative, life is a journey, you can have all the money in the world, but if you don't have illusion, it's useless". Alfonso Pérez concludes: "I've been with the firm for 8 months, I haven't stopped since I arrived and honestly I don't think I'm very conscious of what I've done. I'm only interested in working and doing well, but I've come this far, no one can take this away from me, no matter how long it lasts".

The fifth edition of Aragón Fashion Week took place in Zaragoza from March 13th to 18th, six days dedicated to learning, inspiration and the journey of experts and new fashion designers.

The event, which began in style with a conference by Maite Casademunt, creative director of Lola Casademunt, had as its central theme awareness of the challenges of the future, what we do with waste, how we take care of the planet and people. This attention and awareness of the environment served as the central theme for the rest of the talks: Sustainable stitches: Fashion or necessity, From Art Brut to Fashion Hub: Pioneers of sustainable design in Aragon and The influencer inside you.

After them began the fashion shows, moments full of illusion where sketches projected on paper would come to life and parade on a catwalk while more than 400 people watched the proposals of nothing more and nothing less than 37 Aragonese designers and a guest designer.

Among the parades, it's worth mentioning the XVIII Contest of Young Designers of Aragon where Vitti Moreno emerged as the winner of the night with his futuristic collection in response to the textile and fashion of the future; the work and fashion show of Ivan Royo with his union of fashion, technology and music with the vocalist of La Cueva; the staging of Aragonese brands and the finishing touch of the week: the catwalk of Angel Schlesser, a benchmark of example and Spanish fashion design.

Aragon Fashion Week 2023 not only meant an opportunity and growth for Aragonese fashion, but also boosts the career of new designers, gives voice to the textile value in the region and puts Zaragoza on the national scene with the most prominent fashion event in Aragon and as a reference in the regional fashion weeks.
